"W" MORATORIUM

The College of Liberal Arts and Sciences (CLAS) faculty approved an extension of the moratorium on the third 'W' requirement to August, 2009. This means that all CLAS students who graduate by August 2009 need only take 2 W courses.

Students following the old general education requirements must complete at least one 200 level 'W' course. Both courses may be at the 200 level or the second one can be at the 100 level.

For students who entered the University of Connecticut or declared a CLAS major after May 2005, or who have selected to adopt the new general education requirements, at least one 'W' course must be an approved 'W' in their major.

Students pursuing a double major must complete an approved 200 level 'W" in each major.
